If you visit the site
- Visitor statistics, only if you agree. If you click Accept on the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people use (details below). If you click Reject, or make no choice, Google Analytics doesn’t load. KickStatz shows no ads.
- Our web hosting provider receives your IP address and browser details to deliver each page. It may keep technical logs for a short time to keep the service running and secure.
- Channel pictures load from Kick’s image servers, so Kick receives your IP address when a page shows a streamer’s picture.
- Emails. If you email us, we use your message and address only to answer you, and delete them once the matter is closed.
Cookies and Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a service from Google. It tells us how many people visit KickStatz, which pages they look at and how long they stay. It also shows roughly where visitors are, by country and city. We use it only to see what works and improve the site. It runs only after you click Accept.
- What it collects: the pages you visit and when, and the page that sent you here. It also collects your device type, browser, screen size, language and approximate location. Google works out the location from your IP address and then discards the address. Google says it doesn’t log or store the IP addresses of visitors in the UK, the EU or Switzerland. We have switched off Google’s advertising features, so the data isn’t used for ads.
- Legal basis: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Who receives it: Google, which processes the data for us. Google may process it in the United States. Transfers from the UK are covered by legal safeguards approved for that purpose: Google relies on the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and in some cases on standard contractual clauses.
- How long it is kept: Google Analytics keeps the statistics for 14 months, then deletes them. Its cookies can stay in your browser for up to 2 years (table below), unless you delete them or reject.
These are the cookies, and the items kept in your browser’s local storage (a small store of settings on your device), that KickStatz uses:
| Name | Set by | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics, only after Accept | Tells visits from the same browser apart, so a visitor is counted once | 2 years |
_ga_6DG9V5J9SW | Google Analytics, only after Accept | Keeps track of your visits, so one visit isn’t counted as several | 2 years |
ks-consent (local storage) | KickStatz | Remembers whether you clicked Accept or Reject, so the banner doesn’t ask again on every page. It stays on your device. It is needed to respect your choice, so it doesn’t need consent. | Until you clear your browser’s site data |
ks-theme (local storage) | KickStatz | Remembers light or dark, if you pick one. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. It is needed for the setting you picked, so it doesn’t need consent. | Until you clear your browser’s site data |
Changing your mind: click “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page and choose Accept or Reject. If you reject after accepting, Google Analytics stops at once, its cookies are deleted, and it doesn’t load on later pages. You can also delete cookies in your browser’s settings, or install Google’s opt-out add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
If you stream on Kick
KickStatz shows public information about live channels from Kick’s public API. That means the channel name and picture, stream titles, category, language, start times, viewer counts and active subscriber counts. From these it keeps a history of streams (when they ran, peak and average viewers, watched hours).
- Why, and on what basis: to give streamers and viewers statistics about Kick. The legal basis is legitimate interests. The information is already public on Kick. We hold no private information about streamers: no emails, no messages, no payment details.
- How long: live data is replaced every 10 minutes. Stream history is kept while the site runs, unless the channel asks for removal. Streams that never reach 5 viewers are not kept, unless the channel has been looked up on the site (see How it works).
- Removal: any streamer can have their channel removed for free. See Remove my channel.
